In 122 AD, Rome drew a line 73 miles long and stopped it dead at Wallsend — Segedunum, the fort at the wall's end. Mile Zero. Nearly two thousand years later, the winding wheels of Wallsend Colliery turned the same ground, pulling coal up from under that Roman frontier until 1961.
Two endings, one town. We named the brewery for the marker stone and put the colliery's winding wheel on the badge, because Wallsend was never a place things passed through — it's where they stopped, and stood their ground.
